I studied Japanese Print making 

Ukiyo-e (浮世絵)while I lived in Japan. Ukiyo-e  has influenced my work and style. This piece titled "Uchi no akai kasa" or "My red umbrella" depicts a young woman holding a red umbrella that shields her from uncertainty.

For those in the know of what the title means and refers to. We all struggle with different forms and severity of addiction. Addiction has been a integral part of my life, it has affected me and my family, and shaped me into the person I am today. The hardest part of addiction is admitting you have it, then finding a remedy becomes a bit more lucid.

I've always felt a sense of longing and dissonance from reality. This piece was a reflection of my life back in Hawaii, coupled with a nod to Hokusai. And after reading about the life of a male seahorse, and the courtship rituals that seahorses go through, I felt it was was a poignant centerpiece for the work.

An Omamori (御守) is a protective amulet that is sold at Shinto and Buddhist temples. It is usually a pouch that contains a sacred piece of paper or prayer. It is used for good luck or protection from evil spirits. It can also be used to help find Love or to pass an exam. One the rules about an Omamori is that you can't open the pouch. Otherwise you break the seal and all the protective power will escape. This pieces illustrates a woman holding an Omamori that maybe unsealed, but we also see that the woman is also in a state of being unsealed.

Originally conceived as a study in foreshortening and typography, the work evolved into a visual meditation on mana, a Hawaiian and broader Polynesian concept associated with spiritual power, authority, influence, and vital presence. The figure's extended hand transforms the technical challenge of foreshortening into an intimate act of reaching, while the surrounding typography suggests an unseen energy radiating outward.

The result is a portrait not simply of a person, but of the force a person carries with them.

This piece was done during a life drawing session and was then enhanced digitally. The positioning of the piece captures a fleeting moment of quiet confidence, sensuality, and introspection. Using expressive line work and a warm, understated palette, the figure feels both intimate and effortlessly poised.

 The piece celebrates the elegance of the human form and the vulnerability of a moment unguarded.

This captures an intimate moment and is one of my personal favorites.

The red series started because it was a color I hated as a child. It was bold, brash and vibrant-everything I was not. But as I got older and studied calligraphy, the classic combination of Red and Black impacted me. This piece is entitled "Drawing Inspiration from Oneself", Depicts the Red hooded protagonist creating the illustration, while the wheel of inspiration rolls in the background.

Titled, Finding Balance, This piece was inspired by my attempt to juggle my career, education, clients, art, family, and marriage...Having the red hooded figure on one end to offset the piece, with her standing on one leg to emphasize that we are all burdened with so much that sometimes we get to the point where one slight push will set our whole world off balance.

"Celebrating That Which Never Was" is a piece that I did to help me deal with Loss and grief. While this was a deeply personal piece, it did resonate with a lot of collectors and fans. While this piece did help me cope with a lot of my issues, I am glad that others can find some solace in this work.
